Dulangi, the writer behind Peppermint by Dulangi
Sri Lankan, living in Melbourne, sharing my journey.
Hi, I'm Dulangi

The person behind Peppermint

I write about moving away from home, changing friendships, the books I love, and the ordinary moments I am still trying to understand.

The story

How Peppermint began

I moved to Melbourne for further studies because I wanted to build something independent and find out who I would become away from everything familiar. Back home, I had people I loved, comfort, and a routine that made sense. Leaving was still my choice.

Nobody prepares you for everything that comes after you arrive. The freedom is real, but so are the bills, loneliness, shared houses, odd jobs, and the tiredness of carrying every decision yourself.

“You can miss the life you had and still be grateful for the life you are building.”

I began writing because I needed somewhere to put those two truths together. Peppermint grew from the homesickness, small wins, changing friendships, and books that helped me understand what I was feeling.

I am still figuring it out. That is why I write while life is happening, not after every lesson has been neatly resolved.

This one has completely pulled me in. I keep telling myself, “just one more chapter.” No spoilers, but how are you finding it?

Almost done. I did not see that twist coming.
